SPECTARIS - German Hightech Industry Association
SPECTARIS is the German industry association for the high-tech medium-sized business sector and representative body in the areas of medical technology, optical technologies and analytical, biological, laboratory, and ophthalmic devices. Innovation and growth characterize the different industry sectors and their 235,000 strong workforce. Technologies developed here are used in almost all branches of industry, making them an important motor for the German economy.

SPECTARIS pools the interests of around 400 member companies from Germany, associated in four different sector-specific associations. Through its political activities, public relations and industry marketing, the association gives its members a voice, formulates new responsibilities and opens up new markets. This ensures the international competitiveness of German industry in these sectors and thus safeguards locations and jobs.

Consumer Optics
The SPECTARIS trade association Consumer Optics brings together approximately 85 manufacturers and distributors of optical lenses, spectacle frames, sunglasses and sports glasses, contact lenses and care accessories, visual enhancement aids, eyesight testing devices, telescopes, telescopic sights, spective scopes, opticians' supplies, and merchandise - in short, all products available for and from opticians.

Photonics and Precision Technology
The trade association Photonics and Precision Technology is split into two parts. The trade group Analyses, Bio and Laboratory Technology acts as an independent division, while companies from the sector for lasers, optical components, imaging & photo technology, geodesy, microscopy, measurement instrumentation and sensor technology are grouped together in the photonics division. The trade association Photonics and Precision Technology represents approximately 110 manufacturers in the optical technology sector.

Medical Technology
The SPECTARIS trade association Medical Technology represents the interests of around 160 companies in the industrial goods and appliances sector. The predominantly small to medium sized enterprises are positioned within the sectors of industrial goods and medical appliances. The trade association Medical Technology provides its members with support and information in various business areas and topics. In particular: financing, hygiene and processing, compliance, regulatory affairs, HTA, market access, research funding, and public affairs.

Analytical, Bio and Laboratory Technology
The SPECTARIS trade association Analytical, Bio and Laboratory Technology combines more than 80 German manufacturers of devices, equipment, consumables and accessory for laboratories in the food and quality control sector, environmental technology and materials testing in pharmaceutical, chemical, and medical laboratories, as well as for research and development purposes.

Foreign Trade and export promotion
SPECTARIS is involved in numerous industry specific project activities for the support of German companies abroad, all focused on one single objective: initiation and expansion of contacts with industry associations as well as industrial enterprises in other countries. SPECTARIS is also very active in organising trade fair participation worldwide, in the removal of non-tariff barriers and providing market data and market information to its members.
